You are here: Technical documentation1 / Editing text2 / Authoring

Authoring is a key area of expertise at Scriptor: for us, writing documentation is a process that accompanies development and construction.

The quality and usability of our texts are ensured, because we rely on a well-proven method of alternating training, writing and testing phases for our expert authors that actively involves them with the product, the designers, programmers, engineers and electricians.

All necessary resources – such as risk assessment, controller software, diagrams and on-site training sessions – must be considered to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the documents’ content. By implementing multiple update/correction phases together with you, we guarantee that the quality specifications are achieved and that the content remains up-to-date, even when there are development-related updates required.

We author in German and English with native speakers.

Authoring in parallel with development and design

Scriptor has been creating technical documentation in parallel with the development and design stages for over thirty years. Documentation has been part of the development from the very start. This involves intensive training with the product, the requirement specifications, the usage cases and prototypes. With update cycles and independent product training through all stages of development, the documentation can be ready by your market launch.

Authoring with Word and FrameMaker

We create your documentation professionally using MS Word and Adobe FrameMaker. The resulting publications can be regularly revised and translated. All steps, including layout design, template creation and document layout, are within Scriptor’s expertise. We’ll also gladly take care of all your pre-print work and the conversion into an e-format.

Authoring in German and English

Our native speakers write your documentation in either German and English. For over 25 years, we have been authoring in both languages by native speakers, since many of our customers prefer an English source document. We accept input in English and can work with international product development teams.

Technical correction loops

By authoring the product manuals during the development phase, you can be sure that they are available at the market launch, even for complex products. We use a dual control (“four eye”) method and tight cooperation to ensure the necessary high quality and full compliance with standards. Together with a product specialist directly at your device, we go through topic-oriented correction loops to verify the contents of the draft document. Focal points can change to reflect changes during the development, and further compliance loops can be carried out before the final release.
