One of the SCHEMA ST4’s key advantages is its reuse of text and image modules.
The modules are implemented in XML. They are described by metadata and taxonomies so that they can be found and used by any publication. Modules that are filtered based on certain metadata can be specifically assigned to a publication.
A well thought-out design becomes all the more important when you have many product variants. SCHEMA ST4 encourages the definition of metadata and provides a number of customisable entries. Metadata is oriented towards devices, components, functions and publications; taxonomies always have a structural-hierarchical and a content component.
Deep product knowledge and a good overview are required here, because the specifications should remain usable over the long term.
Conceptual design
Taxonomies can be specific at a component or device level, depending on a trade-off between effective filing and effective working. Mixed forms are possible if this promotes an overview and suits our work style. It is also wise to include further superordinate structures when working with complex product variants or large organizations. The hierarchical structure of the taxonomy in ST4 guarantees a high degree of reuse if the most general branching point is consistently selected for each module.
Implementation
The taxonomy defines the characteristics and hierarchy of the metadata. This is important for the overview, the filtering of the modules in new projects, and the reuse of created text modules. Together with you, we convert the entries into the Schema ST4 filter during the authoring and check the publications.
