Conceptual design for reuse with variants
One of the SCHEMA ST4’s key advantages is its reuse of text and image modules.
The modules are implemented in XML. They are described by metadata and taxonomies so that they can be found and used by any publication. Modules that are filtered based on certain metadata can be specifically assigned to a publication.
A well thought-out design becomes all the more important when you have many product variants. SCHEMA ST4 encourages the definition of metadata and provides a number of customisable entries. Metadata is oriented towards devices, components, functions and publications; taxonomies always have a structural-hierarchical and a content component.
Deep product knowledge and a good overview are required here, because the specifications should remain usable over the long term.

It is also wise to include further superordinate structures when working with complex product variants or large organizations.
